The Guest List

Lucy Foley

The novel was a mixed bag. I always enjoy a good Eire setting, and here we were on a secluded Irish island with the interwoven secrets throughout a wedding gone awry kept me engaged for a while (sometimes a bad wedding is a good read). I enjoyed the puzzle of piecing together each character's backstory and the tension that slowly built up, yet somehow, once the mystery was resolved, the experience felt forgettable; I wasn’t left with that lingering spark of awe. While Foley’s style offers a neat escape, the overall impact didn’t quite stick with me.
