Red, White, and Royal Blue

by Casey McQuiston

This was a good read, both engaging and enjoyable, even if clearly formulaic. The plot followed familiar romantic comedy beats, but the premise was interesting enough to keep things fresh. While it didn’t break new ground, it also wasn’t terribly written; the dialogue was lively, and the characters had charm. It’s a fun, feel-good story that does exactly what it sets out to do. Red, White & Royal Blue has a place as a beach or vacation read, in my opinion.
