Such a Fun Age
by Kiley Reid
Well, it was okay. Such a Fun Age was entertaining, with sharp dialogue and a fast-paced plot, but ultimately felt highly forgettable. While it raises important questions about race, privilege, and public posturing on social issues, the story resolves in a way that feels too neat and idealistic. While ethics wins out over money and status, it does it in a way that doesn’t quite reflect the complexities of real life. It’s a mostly enjoyable read in the moment, but one that fades quickly after the final page.
