The Covenant of Water
by Abraham Verghese
The Covenant of Water was a heavy and deeply involved read, weaving together generations of complex family history and rich cultural detail. At times, I found myself easily distracted, perhaps due to the novel’s length and emotional weight, which demanded sustained focus and reflection. Despite this, the writing itself was close to poetic—lush, evocative, and often beautiful enough to pull me back in. It's a book that requires patience but rewards with depth and artistry.
