Life After Life

by Kate Atkinson

It may go against the intent, but I could have done without the author's awkward approach. The characters were engaging and sympathetic, and the story flowed well, yet the strange depiction of life after life (or death) felt more like an obstacle than an integrated, compelling element. I’ve read lists recently and this title is on many “Best Books of the Century so far” lists and I couldn’t disagree more.
