Ladies’ Lunch
by Lore Segal
I enjoyed Ladies Lunch for the New York of it all — the rhythms of the city, the sharp conversations, the sense of place that feels both familiar and fleeting. The Jewishness of the characters and their histories added a layer of warmth and complexity that resonated deeply. Segal writes with a clear-eyed honesty about aging that I appreciated; there was no sentimentality or sugarcoating. The book is understated but lingers in the mind.
