Before We Were Yours

by Lisa Wingate

Before We Were Yours was wrenching to read, particularly because I was adopted myself. The emotional weight of the story hit hard, bringing to light a dark chapter of history that feels both distant and disturbingly recent. The audacity of the people involved, the deception, the cruelty, the sheer disregard for the lives they were disrupting, is astounding. The novel is powerful and well-crafted, shedding light on an unsettling reality with sensitivity and depth.
