Wifey

by Judy Blume

Very much a product of its 1970s publishing, Wifey took me right back to hunting through library shelves as a teenager, looking for the most scandalous thing I could get away with checking out. In classic Blume fashion, the book tackles subjects that were startlingly frank for their time and still feel surprisingly bold today. It may be dated in places, but it's easy to see why it caused such a stir. While I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to everyone, I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from reading it, either. One thing hasn't changed: Judy Blume was never writing for the faint of heart.
