The Art Forger
by B.A. Shapiro
This book offers a fascinating glimpse into the art world, with the author's evident expertise on Degas shining through. The use of intertwining similar time periods was an effective narrative tool, adding depth to the storytelling. While the writing itself was strong, the pacing felt uneven—some events rushed by, while others lingered too long, often without clear purpose. The character of Claire proved difficult to empathize with, and the ending felt unsatisfying and unresolved. Conceptually and descriptively, this book is a triumph. As a cohesive, well-balanced story, however, it didn’t completely deliver.
