The Alchemist

by Paulo Coelho

I decided to reread this after many years. It is still a mixed bag of inspiration and idiotic simplicity. Coelho weaves a tale of destiny and self-discovery, following a boy’s journey across deserts and through omens. While the themes resonate, like listening to one's heart, recognizing signs, and embracing the unknown, the storytelling often feels more like a self-help manual than a novel. Its charm lies in its accessibility, but it is tremendously didactic.
