The Year of Less
by Cait Flanders
The book left much to be desired in terms of practical value for me. Despite its promise of offering insightful advice, the guide aspect was pretty underwhelming. Rather than being a deep dive into consumer psychology or a resource for financial self-help, the narrative reads more as a memoir. Unfortunately, the author’s story is bogged down by millennial clichés, superficial introspection, and evident privilege which made it hard for me, decades past my twenties and never one for scented candles, to connect with her journey.
