My Friends
by Fredrik Bachman
My Friends is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time, in part because the lovely translation gives it such a distinct, non‑American feel that deepens the story without ever calling attention to itself. I appreciated how the setting could be anywhere, letting the emotional landscape of the characters take center stage rather than geography. What stayed with me most was the idea that friends are friends despite differences in age, background, or interest, an outlook that felt both grounding and hopeful. It’s a quiet, resonant novel, and I’m grateful for how personally it landed with me.
