Evvie Drake Starts Over

by Linda Holmes

I picked up Evvie Drake Starts Over looking for a solid palate cleanser, and it certainly held my interest with its easy pace. Linda Holmes writes dialogue that feels natural, leading to several genuinely laughable moments that kept the mood light even when the characters were dealing with their respective ruts. However, by the time the final chapters rolled around, the resolution felt a bit too neatly tied up with a bow. It was too much happy ending for me to feel entirely realistic. Although a bit sugary for my personal taste, but it was an entertaining read for a weekend when I just wanted something low-stakes and comforting.
