The Summer I Turned Pretty

by Jenny Han

The Summer I Turned Pretty is an interesting read, capturing the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence and first love with a breezy, beach-read charm. While it offers relatable moments and a nostalgic tone, it's hardly literature, relying more on familiar devices than depth or nuance. The story moves along easily enough, but I’m unsure whether I’ll continue with part two of the series; it didn’t quite hook me strongly enough to feel compelled to see what happens next.
