by Alex Michaelides

The Maidens by Alex Michaelides is a weirdly horrific and interesting thriller that blends Greek mythology with dark academia in a way that keeps readers constantly unsettled. As murders unfold at Cambridge, the story builds an eerie, psychological tension, even as some twists feel far-fetched. It is the eerie sense of dread that made this book a compelling read but it is not without its stumbles.
