Say You’ll Remember Me

I went with the audiobook of Say You'll Remember Me because it was an Audie Awards finalist in 2026, and I figured that distinction meant I was in for something special. Apparently, the award voters and I were listening to different books. The writing felt assembled from a template, checking off every expected beat with all the surprise of a grocery list. The narration somehow made things worse; by the end, I was convinced I had heard the name "Xavier" enough times to qualify for continuing education credit. And the story itself? Slightly competent, relentlessly predictable, and almost instantly forgettable, which is ironic considering the title. The fact that the most memorable part of the experience was my irritation at hearing "Xavier" for the thousandth time makes me think the title was less promise and more of a plea.
