Long Island Compromise

by Taffy Brodesser-Akner

The Long Island Compromise features solid writing with plenty of sarcastic, funny moments that give the story a sharp, engaging tone. The character development is strong, making it easy to invest in the family’s struggles and quirks. However, the frequent time jumps, though sometimes useful for context, ended up feeling a bit overused and occasionally disrupted the flow. Still, the novel delivers a thoughtful, often humorous take on privilege, trauma, and the long shadows of family history.
