Cursed Daughters

by Oyinkan Braithwaite

I approached “Cursed Daughters” by Braithwaite with high expectations, and while I admired how ambitious the book is in its reach, braiding folklore, family conflict, and moral ambiguity, the steady, well‑controlled prose and attentive character work signal real quality; yet as the plot unfolds the pacing slackens and several key turns feel underdeveloped, so despite its strengths I ultimately found it somewhat disappointing in delivery. I would read more by this author, but this one just didn’t deliver.
